RTU is a centre of educating engineers in Latvia offering wide possibilities for acquiring higher education with an access to highly developed research facilities.
30 research laboratories and centres and 33 research institutes. Academic staff comprising 103 chairs and professor’s groups is committed to help the students to achieve high research focused standards.
RTU research priorities are closely linked with innovation and development of different areas of national economy of Latvia and its needs for competitive specialists.
RTU has a rich experience in a number of projects dealing with the issues of innovation and mobile IT both on international (FPG, FPJ, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie etc.) and national level. The total number of RTU research projects in the year 2006 exceeds 1300. The projects regarding SMEs development assistance are included.
In bonita project RTU is represented by the Division of Applied software systems, which has big experience in managing of and participating in different EU - funded projects (AMCSAI, DAMAC-HP, BALTPORTS-IT, IST4BALT, eLOGMAR-M, LOG-IS, LOG-IS-Mobile etc.) and projects funded by Latvian Academy of Science.
RTU has the interest to benchmark this project experience in close policy cooperation with Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) and to apply the results to check and where appropriate to modify the Universities’ Innovation Policy.
