In 2007 South Denmark European Office (SDEO) was merged from a number of south Danish regional offices to its present form as a public partnership organisation and is a co-operation between the Region of Southern Denmark and the region’s 22 municipalities. SDEO’s main objective is to create networks and broad regional cooperation in order to develop and implement projects with local and / or regional actors within areas such as regional development, competence development, enterprise networks and clusters, regional framework conditions, energy, environment and RTD. On this background, SDEO has experience in developing, implementing and managing a whole range of European projects within a wide range of EU programmes.
The executive board of SDEO consists of members from the regional council, the Regional Growth Forum, and mayors from the municipalities. Hence, through common strategies, yearly work plans and regular board meetings, the strategic and political level within both the region and the municipalities are involved and engaged in SDEO’s activities. This co-operation gives easy access and good capacity to influence regional and local strategy and policy development, through the presentation of good practice results from European projects.
